The world’s mega-rich (i.e. the Russians) are opting to upgrade from their Gulfstreams to ultra-luxurious VIP jumbo jets. I mean BIG, like Boeing 787 Dreamliner size. Big enough to transport family, friends, entourage, Bentleys and racehorses.
The Dreamliner seats 210 to 330 passengers as a commercial airliner, but is configured with 35 seats under a new ‘V.I.P’ design. It costs upwards of $150million, with another $50million for the bespoke interior.
Even after that transaction, an awful lot of Russians would have plenty of money left over – and the next thing on the shopping list is – of course - a luxury yacht. Apparently, Moscow is emerging as one of the world's most unlikely yachting capitals.
