How many times have you heard someone say, on returning from a holiday, that they feel like a changed person? Tripadvisor can confirm this - the website recently announced the results of its annual travel trends survey, and some of the results reveal the remarkable effect travel has on our behaviour:
We lose our inhibitions: ten percent of respondents stayed at a clothing-optional or adults-only resort; two percent wanted to, but weren't allowed by their partner. Twenty-six percent stated that they were more likely to dress more provocatively than they ever would at home.
Our hormones go wild: Eighteen percent had to impose the "whatever happens on tour, stays on tour" rule with their partner. Six percent were asked on a date or started a relationship with a stranger on a flight.
We turn into criminals: Twenty percent admitted to have taken items from a hotel such as towels, bathrobes and glassware. Four percent thought themselves more likely to do something illegal that they would never dream of doing at home.
